KARACHI: In response to suggestions given by President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Muhammad Idrees, Additional Secretary/ Executive Director General, Board of Investment (BoI), Khashih ur Rehman has assured to incorporate representative of KCCI in the BoI Board so that the business & industrial community of Karachi could play its role in BoI’s decision making process and give valuable inputs in the larger interest of the country.

Exchanging views at a meeting during the visit of BoI delegation to KCCI, Executive Director General BoI also agreed to issue directives on his return to Islamabad for setting up a helpdesk at KCCI so that all the queries being received from local, as well as, foreign investors about the overall investment climate and policies of the government could be promptly responded.

BoI delegation also comprised of Director General/ Project Director CPEC Industrial Cooperation BoI Asim Ayub, Director General Investment Facilitation BoI Suriya Jamal and Assistant Director/ Interpreter BoI Yahya Shaikh. Besides President KCCI, the meeting was also attended by Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Naqi, Vice President Qazi Zahid Hussain, Former President KCCI Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra, KCCI Managing Committee Members and others.

Executive Director General BoI Khashih ur Rehman also discussed ways and means on how to enhance collaboration with Chinese investors and identify potential projects for joint ventures in Pakistan which was the need of the hour so that the economy could be pulled out of ongoing crises.

He also extended BOI’s full cooperation to KCCI so that any issue being faced by the business community could be amicably and promptly resolved which would definitely facilitate businesses and attract investment in the country.

He further urged KCCI members to utilize B2B Portal of BoI for identifying abundant business opportunities related to CPEC.

In his remarks, President KCCI Muhammad Idrees stressed the need to remove the bottlenecks being faced by Pakistani and Chinese companies while entering into joint ventures and establishing businesses in Pakistan.

He also urged BoI to have a KCCI representative on the board for close coordination and better cooperation between the two institutions which would create a win-win situation for both the government as well as the business community of Karachi.

Muhammad Idrees also appreciated BoI delegation’s assurance to establish a BoI helpdesk at KCCI which would facilitate businessmen searching for investment opportunities. “We can also create a strong liaison between the two institutions by forming a joint-committee”, he advised which was also agreed to by members of BoI delegation.
