Spot basis bids for hard red winter wheat in the US Plains were flat on Wednesday as farmers focused on planting preparation and in some areas seeding was getting under way. Soil moisture levels were a concern in many key growing areas of the Plains after historic drought and high heat persisted through the summer.
Some improved demand has been noted at the Gulf. Rail car wheat offers were light. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City climbed 3-6 cents a bushel for 11.40- through 12.80-percent protein wheat supplies and were unchanged otherwise.
