Jamaat-e-Islami demands judicial enquiry into factory fire

Jamaat-e-Islami, Ameer, Syed Munawwar Hassan, has called for a judicial enquiry into the fire at a garments factory in Karachi resulting in the death of around three hundred workers. He said this was a big tragedy, which could not be termed as an accident. A thorough probe must be held to know the cause of the fire and the factors behind that.
Enquiry should also be made into the delay in the arrival of the fire brigade and the non-co-operation of the rescue teams. He stressed that the provincial ministers for industry, trade and labour be included in the enquiry and those found guilty must be given deterrent punishment.
