Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said on Thursday that the Ministry of Religious Affairs will provide free-of-cost food to all Hujjaj for three days during their stay at Mina. He stated this while chairing a meeting of the Hajj Advisory Committee held at Parliament House. The meeting was attended by MNAs Belum Hasnain, Syed Amir Ali Shah and officials of Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The minister said that all pilgrims would also be provided train facility from Mina to Arafat as well as on their return journey to Mina. He said four airlines - PIA, Saudi Airlines, Shaheen Air and NAS Air of Saudi Arabia were designated to airlift the Hujjaj as per air service agreement.
He said that the government was trying its best to provide maximum facilities to Hujjaj. "The one-month pre-Hajj flight operation will commence from September 19 to take over 89,000 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia under the government scheme," he added. He said that the strength of doctors and paramedics staff had been increased to extend maximum facilities to the Hujjaj. We are also introducing mobile tracker system to facilitate the Hujjaj, he said.
Earlier, briefing the meeting about Hajj arrangements, Joint Secretary (Hajj) Hafiz Sher Ali said that the inaugural flights would take off from Peshawar and Islamabad on September 19, carrying 832 pilgrims on the first day. For the welfare services during Hajj-2012, a Hajj Medical Mission comprising 625 personnel, 350 Khuddam-ul-Hujjaj and 900 local Khuddam-ul-Hujjaj in Saudi Arabia would be deputed to facilitate the Hujjaj. The Hajj Mission had set up a 50-bed main hospital in Makkah Mukarramah besides setting up 13 dispensaries in each administrative sector there.
