Enforced disappearances: UN group not to be allowed to conduct any probe: Rehman
Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said the UN working group on enforced disappearances will not be allowed to conduct any kind of investigation in the country. Talking to the media persons outside the Parliament House here on Thursday‚ he said there is a law of land and the country's institutions are efficient enough to conduct any sort of investigation.
He‚ however‚ said the UN working group will be provided the information it required. To a question‚ the Interior Minister said FIA and forensic teams are conducting investigation into the Karachi fire incident. He confirmed the death toll of 264 in the Karachi fire.
He regretted that the Punjab government has not shown any concern or started investigation into the Lahore shoe factory fire incident. He said he has directed the Punjab IG to submit report on the incident and he is likely to receive the report in one or two day time. Rehman Malik said that the provincial governments should ensure enforcement fire safety laws to avert fire incidents in the future.
