ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered to issue an advertisement in newspaper to summon Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz.

A three-judge bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan, on Thursday heard the case regarding the National Accountability Bureau’s appeal.

The court ordered the publishing of the advertisement after non-compliance with summoning notices by the prime minister’s son.

Shehbaz gets permanent exemption from court appearance

During the hearing, the deputy prosecutor NAB said the parties involved in the case did not comply with the court’s notices. Justice Ijaz responded that the Lahore High Court (LHC) registrar had also been told to make sure the involved parties complied with the summon notices.

The LHC had ordered the anti-graft watchdog to inform Hamza at least 10 days before arresting him. The observations of the LHC were later challenged by the NAB.

The NAB, on March 20, 2020, had challenged the LHC’s order dated 06-02-2020 granting post-arrest bail to PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz in Ramzan Sugar Mills. The anti-graft watchdog had contended that it received a complaint that in 2015 the Punjab government released Rs360 million for drainage scheme of local Abadis in District Chiniot, which was misused and utilised for the construction of 9-10 km wastewater course of Ramzan Sugar Mills Ltd Chiniot, fraudulently showing it drainage scheme for local Abadis.
