Modalities to ensure internal and external foolproof security of the Divisional Headquarter Shahbaz Building Hyderabad were discussed in a high level meeting presided over by Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Ahmed Bux Narejo at Shahbaz Hall, Shahbaz Building Hyderabad today.
The S.S.P. Hyderabad Pir Fareed Jan Sarhandi, Divisional heads of all Provincial departments, with offices in Shahbaz Building, Deputy Election Commissioner Atta-ur-Rehman, officers of the HESCO attended the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad said that although the Sindh Police was taking care of the security of the building, still there was room for improvement and a need to update the security measures as per the present situation. The Divisional Commissioner gave 15 days of relaxation to all government employees working in the Shahbaz Building to get their departmental identity card and stickers of their vehicles, which would become compulsory for entry in the building.
It was decided that walk- through gates would be installed at each entrance of the existing block and government vehicles could only enter with the sticker. Private vehicles would be allowed in after the owner gave his identity and the car was scanned through the latest metal detectors/equipment by the security force deployed, before entry. It was also decided that the compound wall of Shahbaz Building be raised and strengthened.
The Divisional Commissioner while responding to a suggestion assured the Security staff that the latest security gadgets would also be made available to them. The Divisional Commissioner also formed a 3-member committee headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Hyderabad Abid Saleem Qureshi with Executive Engineer of the building Aktar Dawach and Security Incharge Shahbaz Building Mr Nazar-ul-Islam as members to physically detect/identify the security lapse around the boundary wall, and submit a recommendation for the construction of a guard room at the main gate.
Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner Ahmed Bux Narejo said that since the security of Shahbaz Building was a sensitive matter, as such strict and foolproof security measures were essential to protect the employees from any threat and keep the precious records of the government and public properties in safe custody.
