This refers to a most ludicrous and daft ongoing media debate, comparing ex-PPP chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto (ZAB), with PTI's chairman Imran Khan. They both are different individuals with specific and characteristic traits. ZAB is history and a past, with a chequered legacy while Imran Khan is present and a future, yet to create and leave behind a legacy, good or bad!
Candidly speaking, in view of a common citizen, deeply worried about the future of the country, accelerated dilution, erosion of writ of the state, economy caught in a whirlpool of corruption, incompetence, mismanagement of the affairs of the country, being taken to cleaners, under a dynastical PPP-led dispensation, unchecked terrorism, sectarian killings, extremism and galloping inflation, who on earth in Pakistan would be interested in a ludicrous, intangible and useless debate comparing these two individuals?
Imran Khan has yet to prove himself as a national leader. He is regarded as an honest, incorruptible and a person committed to working for the good of the nation. There are issues with Imran Khan that worry a large segment of the moderate, educated and progressive civil society. These concerns stem from the construed or misconstrued view that he is close to the so-called extremist religious political parties. So also, his prescription of dealing with the Taliban seems unrealistic and unsustainable. One sincerely hopes that with the induction of astute business leaders, moderate politicians, Pakistani diasporas in the West and elsewhere, consisting of outstanding professionals, supporting and assisting PTI, will be able to prevail, exercise their influence in setting the future course of PTI's direction and actions in this regard.
