An eight-member UNO Working Group on enforced or involuntary disappearances to Pakistan led by Oliver De Frouville on Friday had a meeting with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Chief Minister House. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbad, IG Police Sindh Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Waseem Ahmed, Osma El- Hajje, Ms Aliyar, UJO and others.
The CM, while welcoming the delegation, informed that there was full fledged set-up and system in the province while Chief Justice of Pakistan had also been taking full interest on issues of human rights. Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Human Rights Cells had been set up at Supreme Court of Pakistan, offices of Chief Secretary Sindh, IG, adding that Sindh Police and other department aimed at protecting the rights of human beings in Pakistan.
He informed the working group that since last four and half years there was no any political prisoner in the province, and said that in case of any violation of human rights was observed or known, immediate and prompt action was being taken by the government against violators. The Head of delegation, working group Oliver De- Frouville discussed issues of human rights in the meeting and fully hoped that the people would be provided relief.-PR
