A cargo volume of 22,749 tonnes comprising 16,671 tonnes of import cargo and 6,078 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 627 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 16,671 tonnes includes 4,409 tonnes of crude oil; 728 tonnes of project cargo; 1,619 tonnes of bitumen; 7,252 tonnes of chemicals and 2,763 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 6,078 tonnes includes 4,135 tonnes of corn and 1,943 tonnes of containerised cargo. A crude oil tanker namely MT Arietis sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while three more ships namely CV Lantau Arrow, MV Venus Triumph and MV Asphalt Merchant with containers, general cargo and bitumen sailed out to sea on Saturday morning.
A total number of six vessels viz CV Lantau Arrow, MV Ananya Naree, MT Asphalt Merchant, MV Venus Triumph, MV Harsanadi and MT Arietis are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, corn, chemicals, bitumen and crude oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely MSC Jade, Genie, MT Karachi, Fisher-D, Sonoma, Al-Salam-II and Bele Shah with containers, furnace oil, cement, canola seeds, diesel oil and dredger respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A container vessel viz CV MSC Jade is expected to take berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Saturday.
