Despite tendering resignations, ministers, advisors and special assistants affiliated with PML-F, ANP, NPP and PML-Q are still enjoying official facilities including vehicles, fuel, telephones and others, Business Recorder learnt on Monday.
While opposing the promulgation of Peoples Local Government Ordinance 2012, PML-F, ANP, NPP and PML-Q had parted ways from provincial government and their ministers Jam Madad Ali (Science and Technology), Rafiq Banbhan (Auqaf), Advisors to Chief Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh (Special Education), Nasir Khan Nizamani (Mineral and Mines), Special Assistants to Chief Minister Noor Hussein Khaskheli and Khadim Ali Aradeen, NPP's minister Abid Khan Jatoi (Livestock) and PML-Q's only minister Shehryar Ali Khan Mehar (Alternative Energy) submitted resignations at Chief Minister House.
However, ANP's only provincial minister for Labour Amir Nawab submitted his resignation at CM House before the resignations of ministers and advisors of other protesting political parties. Sources inside the General Administration (GA) department told Business Recorder that no minister, advisor or special assistant (out of nine resigned) submitted official vehicle, staff and other facilities to GA department despite the passage of about1 10 days to their resignations.
"The basic job of GA department is to provide official vehicles, fuel, staff, telephones, protocol and other facilities to provincial ministers, advisors and special assistants. While, if any minister, advisor or special assistant resigns or removed, he or she has to return all official facilities at GA department", they said.
According to information collected by Business Recorder, one vehicle, driver, office with existing staff, residence if available, two telephone numbers one each at office and residence, 500 litres fuel with oil for vehicle, medical unlimited and monthly salaries were the basic facilities for any minister with portfolio. "While, if any minister or advisor to CM has no portfolio, he or she can enjoy all facilities excluding the office and staff. One vehicle with 300 litres fuel and oil is necessary for any special assistant."
Sources very close to resigned ministers said that Jam Madad Ali, Imtiaz Shaikh, Rafiq Banbhan and Nasir Khan Nizamani, all of PML-F were still using the official vehicles with the PSO cards of fuel given to them by GA department, adding that official telephone numbers installed at their residences were still in their use while, they didn't even relief the official drivers.
A source who is very close to Amir Nawab told Business Recorder that Nawab was still using the official vehicle (Civic car) with official driver and other facilities. When contacted, GA Secretary Syed Mumtaz Shah told Business Recorder that he had not received any official vehicle or other things from any minister or advisor who resigned a few days back. "May be they are not giving back official properties as their resignations have not been accepted yet by the higher authorities" he added.
But political sources are of the view that if PML-F, ANP, NPP and PML-Q had parted ways from provincial government over the issue of SPLGO 2012, and their ministers, advisors and special assistants resigned as protest, they should give back all official properties to the government while showing their high moral.
