The Karachi Port handled 135,475 tonnes of cargo comprising 105,685 tonnes of import cargo and 29,790 tonnes of export cargo including 4,533 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 105,685 tonnes comprised 39,996 tonnes of containerised cargo; 31,265 tonnes of bulk cargo: 22,500 tonnes of coal; 2,995 tonnes of DAP; 5,770 tonnes of rock phosphate and 34,424 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,790 tonnes comprised 20,374 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,416 tonnes of bulk cargo: 381 tonnes of cement; 2,219 tonnes of talcum powder and 6,816 tonnes of loose bulk cement. As many as 4,533 containers comprising 2,603 containers import and 1,930 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,081 of 20's and 742 of 40's loaded while 2 of 20's and 18 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 552 of 20's and 302 of 40's loaded containers while 200 of 20's and 287 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Seven ships namely R Sea, Lantau Arrow, APL Sharjah, YM Tai Chung, Kota Anggerik, Cathrina and Venus Triumph carrying five container ships, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Seven vessels viz Cosco Yianjin, Lindavia, Kota Anggerik, BSL Gujrat, Maria Fortune, Safina-2 and Leed Castle with four container ships, two bulk cargo ships and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Two ships namely BSL Gujrat and Glenda Meryl carrying one container ship and one mogas ship respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ships namely Lindavia, Invicta and Spar Virgo with one container ship, one cement carrier and one coal carrier respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. Two vessels viz TS Qingdao and Hanjin Monaco with two container ships respectively due to arrive on Monday, while another vessel viz Jolly with containers is due to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 54,438 tonnes comprising 50,752 tonnes of import cargo and 3,686 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 214 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 50,752 tonnes includes 33,436 tonnes of furnace oil; 15,121 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,815 tonnes of chemicals and 380 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 3,686 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 214 containers comprising 20 containers import and 196 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. Three ships namely CV MSC Jade, MV Harsanadi and MT Genie carrying containers, bitumen and furnace oil sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours.
A total number of four vessels viz CV MSC Jade, MV Sonoma, MT Genie and MV Harsanadi are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, furnace oil and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely MT Karachi, Bow Eagle, Fisher-D and Al-Salam-II with furnace oil, palm oil, cement and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
Three vessels viz CV Maersk Montana, Bow Eagle and Al-Salam-II with furnace oil, palm oil and diesel oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
Four ships namely CV Hanjin Venezia, CV Hanjin Elizabeth, CV Sealand Michigan and MT Ambelof carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday, while three more ships namely CV CMA CGM Latour, CV CMA CGM Chopan and MV Star Sea Cosmos carrying containers and iron ore are due to arrive on Wednesday.
