Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said on Tuesday there is no harm in withdrawing Malik Qayyum's letter to Swiss courts, as it was contrary to the legal requirements. He was talking to media after attending exhibition of electricity equipment at the Expo Centre Lahore.
The federal minister said the government was functioning lawfully and there is no problem in writing letter to the Swiss courts, as the President enjoys immunity under the Constitution of Pakistan. He said Yousuf Raza Gilnai was removed from his office tightening noose against him.
According to him, the fate of Gujrat would be decided by the President Asif Ali Zardari in case the PPP formed election alliance with the PMLQ. Mukhtar said the load shedding has reduced in the country and operation against defaulters would continue. Further, he said, agreements with sugar mills for purchase of sugar has been finalised by the government and the government was considering tariff relief on import of energy equipment.
