A casual hearing of a petition in a love marriage case on Tuesday surprised all in courtroom in the Lahore High Court when family of bride claimed that the groom of their girl was also a girl. Ayesha Butt and Shahzad Butt had filed the petition seeking cancellation of an FIR got registered by the family of the girl against the groom on charges of kidnapping and theft.
The girl through counsel submitted that she contracted marriage with Shahzad Butt with her free will. In her statement the girl also stated that he has not kidnapped her but her family lodged a fake FIR against her husband. She told the court that she wanted to go with her husband and requested to quash the FIR.
During the course of hearing uncle of the girl, Arif Butt, stated before the court that Shahzad Butt was not a man but a girl. He said the real name of Shahzad Butt was Sonia Butt. He also presented birth certificate and school leaving certificate of Shahzad Butt showing him as girl.
