Chief Secretary, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Ghulam Dastgir Akhtar, said that no leniency will be exhibited in the timely completion of development projects with specified quality; and any government official found responsible for the delay will be taken to task while special care will be taken in case of Chitral district.
Talking on the occasion of the joint meeting of the administrative secretaries of different departments of the government and the district heads of political leaders and representatives of Civil Society organisations, he said that the progress report of the development projects will be reviewed on regular intervals.
He expressed his annoyance over the complaints heaped by the local leaders about the communication and works (C&W) department and directed the secretary to affix a definite date for the completion of different projects by himself and ensure their completion by the fixed date.
The local leaders including provincial Minister, Salim Khan, MPA Ghulam Muhammad, Abdul Wali Khan, Maulana Sher Aziz, Saeed Ahmed Khan, Maulana Abdur Rahman, Eidul Hussain, Ghulam Hazrat Inqilabi advocate, Maulana Abdur Rahman and others specially mentioned the inordinate delay in the completion of bypass road, special renovation of Shahi Masjid and internal roads. They also pointed out the delay and substandard work on Booni-Buzund road, Booni-Shandur Road and Mastuj-Baroghil road. The chief secretary gave a clear deadline of June 30 next for the completion of bypass road and said that no delay will be tolerated in this project.
The chief secretary also issued directions to the relevant quarters about the acute shortage of doctors in the hospitals of the district including the DHQ hospital and other facilities. He directed the secretary health to prepare an attractive package to lure the doctors to serve in Chitral with enthusiasm. He also directed to increase medicines for the hospitals and devise a plan for centrally heating system in the hospitals during the winter season.
He also issued directions about the departments of irrigation, education, forest and food while he directed the relevant authorities to come forward with solution for the amelioration of the people. The chief secretary also directed the C&W authorities to provide different valleys of the district with a tractor so that the roads could be kept intact by clearing the snow and avalanches.
