A meeting was held between All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) and Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) to discuss industry issues. The meeting was chaired by Pir Bakhsh Jamali, Director General, (DG) Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA).
Aizaz Mansoor Sheikh Chairman (APCMA) highlighted the issues faced by cement industry in export of cement and also emphasised that PSQCA should also sign bilateral agreement with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) so that the export of cement can be enhanced. Moreover, Chairman APCMA requested DG about the settlement of arrears of marking fees, training of Quality Control staff of different units.
Secondly, participation in the standardisation activities in ISO and ASTM Standards. DG, PSQCA assured the chairman and members of the Association that PSQCA will facilitate cement industry with reference to bilateral agreement with other countries and also ensured the participation in TCS/Standardization activities. Furthermore, decision about arrears of marking fees and cases sub judice in different courts will be asked from the Chairman of Board of Directors and Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST)
D.G, PSQCA informed that the D G (B.I.S) will sign agreement on Conformity Assessment on September 21 at Islamabad, which will facilitate both and boost export of cement from Pakistan. The DG, PSQCA on behalf of Government of Pakistan assured the cement association that all efforts will be done to enhance business community and faith in government decision as mission of business people and government functionaries is to bring credibility to Pakistan export with best quality to compete with international actors.
