The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has condemned the arrest of renowned businessman Sheikh Muhammad Hanif who was handcuffed by a dengue squad. The LCCI office bearers; President Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Senior Vice President Kashif Younis Meher and Vice President Saeeda Nazar in their joint statement on Wednesday said that it was very unfortunate that a very respectable and renowned steel industry businessman was taken into custody despite government assurance that no arrest would be made on dengue issue.
They said that there is no such example in the entire world that a businessman is arrested without any proof. They said that the business community has already done a lot eradicate deadly dengue virus and extended every possible help to the government but in response third degree methods are being applied to harass them which has caused a wide spread resentment among the businessman. The LCCI office-bearers said that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif should initiate action against those who arrested a seasoned businessman and try to tarnish his image.
