All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) has rejected Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan's allegation that nuclear technology was transferred on the orders of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, saying that Prime Minister or any other person carrying equal status has not any role in nuclear proliferation.
In a statement issued here from central information secretariat, Aasia Ishaque, Central Secretary Information said that earlier, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan had levelled allegations against Pervez Mushrraf and now he was making similar accusations against Benazir Bhutto.
She said that former President Pervez Musharraf had always secured the country's nuclear technology from the external elements but Dr Qadeer alleged him for transferring the technology to other countries. She said that Pervez Musharraf was only ruler who had guaranteed defence and security of nuclear technology.
Aasia Ishaque said that APML chief had made strenuous endeavours for peace, development and prosperity in the world, especially in the Muslim countries. She said that A Q Khan's assertion is a belated and desperate attempt to wash the guilt of proliferating nuclear weapons by associating the name of Benazir Bhutto to lend a semblance of respectability to a crime that brought huge embarrassment to and inflicted incalculable damage on Pakistan, she added.
Central leader APML said that public memory was not so short as to forget the public apology tendered by AQ Khan on national television in February 2004 in which he acknowledged to nuclear proliferation and also admitted his guilt. "Dr Khan had also admitted in his infamous TV appearance that the investigation has established that many of the reported activities did occur and that these were inevitably initiated at my behest", Aasia said. She said that so-called disclosure by Dr Khan after 14 years of the nuclear tests were ludicrous.-PR
