Traders of Lahore have decided to observe a shutter-down strike on Friday to register their protest against the American blasphemous film. Traders took out protest rallies in different markets of the city to condemn the derogatory act committed by a US pastor Terry Jones.
The charged protesters shouted slogans against the United States and the moviemaker. Addressing a protest rally, the speakers termed the release of video clips religious terrorism. They also demanded the ouster of the US envoy. Advisor to Chief Minister on trade affairs Muhammad Ali Mian, Chairman PML (N) Traders Wing Sohail Sarfaraz Manj, President PML (N) Traders wing Babar Mahmood and media advisor PML (N) Traders wing Mian Shafqat announced that there will be a complete shutter-down strike in Lahore. In their joint statement they appealed to the traders' community that they will close their shops in order to register their protest against the American blasphemous film. They demanded that America should apologise to the Muslims for the blasphemous film adding further if Americans do not regret on presentation of this movie then Muslims should boycott American and Western products.
President All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran Khalid Pervez and President Qaumi Tajir Ittehad Irfan Iqbal Sheikh have already announced a complete shutter-down strike on Friday during a joint press conference on Tuesday. They appealed to the traders' community that they should fully participate in the strike to register their protest against the derogatory act committed by a US pastor Terry Jones.
Meanwhile, All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran General Secretary Naeem Mir also announced to observe a shutter-down strike in the city on Friday. Earlier, he said, the same US pastor desecrated the Holy Quran and now he had prepared a blasphemous movie with the help of Israel. He said it was binding for the whole Muslim Ummah to protect the honour and dignity of prophets.
