Ahle Sunnat- wal-Jamaat Pakistan on Wednesday staged a large procession against the anti-Islam film in the city, urging the western world to carry out effective legislation to protect the sanctity of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Jamaat organised a "Labbaik Ya Rasool Ullah" march, which started off from New Memon Masjid in Bolton Market, which a large number of people attended.
The religious leaders and participants of the protest rally vowed to defend Islam against all conspiracies of the west. Participants vowed that they would defend their religion and to sacrifice their lives for upholding the sanctity of Islam. Religious leaders of Ahle Sunnat- wal-Jamaat Pakistan at the end of the rally presented a memorandum to the US consulate.
Religious leaders demanded of that the government should expel the US ambassador from Pakistan. They criticised the US for not taking action against the filmmaker who had hurt the feelings of Muslims world-wide. They also blamed the US for paving the path for a clash of civilisations by supporting and encouraging the anti-Islam forces openly. They said that the US is working on an anti-Islam agenda. And that the US by inviting Salman Rushdi and other anti-Islam personalities to the White House, revealed the stance of the Obama administration towards other religions, especially Islam.
The speakers also criticised the rights groups for being silent on the sensitive issue of the anti-Islam film. They said that the US is critical of Muslims protests but has ignored its prime responsibility to take action against the filmmaker, which is tantamount to hostility to Islam.
They urged the US and European nations to make strict blasphemy laws in their countries to protect the sanctity of Islam and other religions. They hoped such laws will help prevent clashes between civilisations. They warned the west of a backlash from the Muslims if it did not take preventive steps against anti-Islam perpetrators, saying that the faithful would leave no stone unturned to protect their religion.
They also announced support to the strike calls announced for Friday, September 21 and Thursday September 29 against the anti-Islam film. Those who participated and spoke to the rally included: Haji Hanif Tayyab, Maulana Abrar Ahmed Rehmani, Maulana Akram Saeedi, Allama Kokab Noorani, Maulana Khalil-ur-Rehman Chisti, Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain and others.
