KATI urges minister to take notice of poor infrastructure in Korangi
KARACHI: President of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Faraz-ur-Rehman has expressed his concern over the deterioration of infrastructure in Korangi Sector 28 and appealed to Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and Administrator Karachi Saifur Rehman to take notice of the poor infrastructure in the largest industrial area of Pakistan.
He said that for the last 30 years, there is no basic infrastructure system including roads, water and sewerage in the area due to which street crime and encroachments are increasing tremendously.
He said that if Sector 28 is not improved, it will become difficult for the trader community to do business and the already existing industries will be closed, which will further increase unemployment.
President KATI said that most of the areas in Korangi are still facing problems due to the absence of basic infrastructure.
Faraz-ur-Rehman said that the country is already going through an economic crisis, if basic infrastructure is not provided to the industrialists, they will start closing in the megacity that runs the economy of Pakistan and Sindh province, which the country cannot afford.
He said that the government should ensure provision of basic infrastructure to the business community so that investment can increase, and the economy can be stabilized by increasing employment.
President KATI hoped that the government would immediately take steps for the improvement of Sector 28 and other areas of Korangi.
