The Lahore High Court here on Thursday directed Punjab government to present the copy of the agreement between Punjab government and the Parko for supply of 1200 Euro II compliant diesel busses till October 02. The court also extended the stay order on the opening of tenders of the busses for their import.
The petitioner M/S Gujranwala City Tours (Pvt) through Taffazul H Rizvi challenged the process of bids called by the provincial government. He said that the government wanted to purchase the buses, which would be given to operators, like petitioner on soft term loan basis.
On Thursday a representative of Parko informed the court that it has arranged the availability of Euro II Compliant diesel at 32 pumps all over the province. He said they have signed an agreement with the government for ensuring the availability of the diesel at large scale. At this the court summoned the copy of the agreement.
The court already has turned down a Punjab government's petition challenging a stay order. The petitioners submitted that the government would spend huge amount from public money to procure these buses run by the fuel called Euro II compliant diesel, which is not available in Punjab. Counsel said that even the oil refineries had declared the inability to produce this diesel in near future. He therefore prayed to the court to restraint he provincial government from procuring these buses.
