KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 281,955 tonnes of cargo comprising 168,458 tonnes of import cargo and 113,497 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours.
The total import cargo of 168,458 comprised of 125,225 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 2 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 5,050 tonnes of Canola, 4,650 tonnes of Soya Beans Seeds, 8,895 tonnes of Wheat & 24,636 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 113,497 tonnes comprised of 60,160 tonnes of containerized Cargo, 790 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 44,047 tonnes of Clinkers & 8,500 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.
Nearly, 8481 containers comprising of 5254 containers import and 3227 containers export were handled on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1104 of 20’s and 2057 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 18 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 724 of 20’s and 586 of 40’s loaded containers while 179 of 20’s and 576 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Approximately, 07 ships namely, Cma Cgm Tosca, Msc Diya F, Apl Antwerp, Ithomi, X-Press Kilimanjaro, Northern Dexterity and MT Shalamar have berthed at Karachi Port.
Around, 06 ships namely, Seamax Westport, Star Piera, George Washington, Hafnia Excel, Navios Jasmine and Sea Elegant have sailed at Karachi Port.
PORT QASIM
A total of 11 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them a containers ship ‘MSC Deigo’ left the Port on Monday morning, while 02 more ships, CL Dayang He and AAI Prelude are expected to sail on today in the afternoon.
A Cargo volume of 161,476tonnes, comprising 143,133 tonnes imports cargo and 18,343 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,270` Containers (2,191 TEUs Imports and 1,079 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours. The commodity-wise break-up of import and export cargo is highlighted as under.
There are 15 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, 03 ships, Maria Topic, Hong Cheng and MSC Beijing & another ships ‘Maersk Boston’ carrying Coal, Wheat and Containers are expected to take berths at PIBT, FAP and QICT on Monday, 30th Jan- 2023.
