FAISALABAD: Although ensuring continuity of electricity supply is a professional responsibility but protecting human life is a religious duty and family need, Chief Executive Officer of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) has said. He was addressing a safety seminar held in Jaranwala division on Thursday.
He further said that line staff are the backbone of Fesco and their role in the department is admirable. Fesco is spending millions of rupees every year for the safety of its workers and protective equipment are being procured for them to reduce the risks to precious lives of the line staff during work.
He also directed the line staff to ensure the use of T&P and safety gadgets during work. “Do not work without the permit and earthing of the lines,” he added.
Addressing the seminar, Executive Engineer Jaranwala Division Ghulam Nabi Memon said that the linemen perform their duties while putting their lives at risk, for which I salute them. The line staff strives to fulfil their departmental responsibilities irrespectively during the extreme heat and cold weather, with their tireless efforts to ensure uninterrupted power supply to our consumers.
At this occasion, Deputy Director Safety Saeed Raza, Staff Officer Abid Rasheed and Technical Officer First Circle Shiraz Sheikh said that martyrdom in Wapda is second only to the army and every month many workers are martyred or disabled while working on electric lines. Safety measures and provision of standardized T&P are very important to protect the lives of the linemen. They paid great tribute to the line staff and said that they work tirelessly day and night to light up every corner of the country.
SDOs of all Sub-Divisions of Jaranwala Division, representatives of Hydro Union and a large number of line staff were also present on the occasion.
