Adviser to Prime Minister and PPP leader Fawad Chaudhry on Sunday said that the government is writing a letter to the Swiss authorities but immunity to the President is not being surrendered. Talking to media persons at a cake cutting ceremony for the 24th birthday of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Cosmopolitan Club, Bagh-e-Jinnah on Sunday, Fawad said that cases against the President cannot be opened in violation of Article 248 of the Constitution.
He said that the judges should ensure respect of the judiciary and no body else. Law should be supreme and not the judges, he added.
Fawad said that the elected members should not be disqualified for dual nationality just three months before elections.
He alleged that provincial governments of Punjab and KP had failed to maintain law and order during protests against the blasphemous movie. He said station house officers (SHOs) of Rawalpindi were instigating the mob to attack Islamabad as at least six of 171 arrested protestors were serving policemen. He asked what action the Punjab Government had taken against the SHOs?
Later, he cut a cake. PPP Punjab Information Secretary Raja Amir and PPP Zonal president Afnan Butt were also present.
