Yemeni President Abd Rabu Mansour Hadi on Sunday headed to Britain, beginning a tour of Europe and the United States aimed at rallying financial support for his impoverished country.
Hadi's tour, his first since becoming president in February, is also taking him to France and Germany, according to the country's official news agency SABA.
The agency quoted him as saying prior to departure that his talks would focus on "means of supporting Yemen" in order to achieve political and economic stability.
Hadi will attend a pro-Yemen conference due to be held in New York on September 27. "Great hopes are pinned on this conference, which will be attended by many donor countries to announce financial pledges to assist Yemen's economy to recover," he told SABA.
