Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) Monday filed its response in the Supreme Court in relation to a petition filed by the counsel for Syed Ali Musa Gilani, son of former premier Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. Gilani's counsel had accuse the ANF of harassing, manhandling and grossly insulting his client on the day of the bail application hearing in the Supreme Court in ephedrine case on September 13.
Raja Shahid Mehmood Abbasi, counsel for the ANF, contended that Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench rejected the junior Gilani's bail application in ephedrine case on September 9 and he was in hiding for almost 11 to 12 days. Abbasi said that ANF was not given any notice by the Supreme Court of the bail application of Ali Musa Gilani so ANF arrested him and then produced him before the Supreme Court following the apex court's orders.
Ali Musa Gilani's contention that he was manhandled and insulted was incorrect as the ANF party treated him strictly in accordance with the law, according to the counsel for ANF. Abbasi further contended that the accused was arrested as per law. Abbasi urged the court to dismiss petition of Gilani in the interest of justice. A three-member bench led by Justice Nasirul Mulk accepted Ali Musa Gilani's pre-arrest bail on September 14 against two surety bonds of Rs 0.5 million each which would be heard by the same bench on September 25 (today).
