LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Asad Umar on Sunday praised party’s workers and supporters for showing up at the Lahore rally’s venue Minar-e-Pakistan despite ‘all the obstacles’, saying that the coming week will be turning point in Pakistan’s history.

Addressing a press conference here, the former planning minister said that the people of Lahore came out despite fear, arrests and containers placed across the city.

Asad Umar lambasted the incumbent government for mishandling the country’s economy, saying that the nation was suffering after the incumbent rulers were imposed on them. “People are losing their lives while queuing up to get flour,” he added.

The PTI leader noted that Pakistan was created in the month of Ramazan and its ‘journey to prosperity’ will also begin in the same month.

Taking over the presser, PTI senior vice-president Fawad Chaudhry said there is no way in Pakistan except implementing the Constitution while commenting on the ongoing political crisis in the country.

He claimed that over 2,000 people were arrested in the ongoing crackdown against PTI workers. “People are being picked and rendered missing from Lahore. Azhar Mashwani went missing,” he added.

He warned that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) led government will have Pakistan added to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) list again.

This man - AU - is the prime example and manifestation of the fact that highly educated professionals could stoop so filthy low whilst transforming into a politician and then make mockery of everything about this country. There have been many highly educated professionals who held public and constitutional roles in the past 5 decades and they kept themselves almost apolitical. AU showed that a highly educated professional could be more mean, stupid, selfish, and jaahil than the illiterates of this country.

All talk no action. The architect of Devaluation of the Pakistani Rupee was not Shahbaz Sharif but Asad Omar instead. The whole inflationary spiral rests on his shoulders alone .

@Kashif ALI, The tragedy is Asad Omer is still running the show after having been the mastermind of everything that is wrong with PTI . Today . FATF compliance at the cost of Pakistani poor people was really a terrible thing he did .

When he was the in-charge of finance he played havoc to the country delaying IMF deal for 6 months which caused massive devaluation. The most inefficient team in the history of Pakistan who did nothing during 3.5 years of rule. Now putting blame on others. What a joke.

@Pervez, Absolutely. Asad Umer must be made a classical case study in all business schools about how a Corporate Executive turned out to be a disastrous failure in running the public office of finance ministry. His core skills were ground to halt. This is my problem with PTI. They were really a Selected Trainee group imposed upon Pakistan to run it. And they ran amok around the economy of this country. Extremely inexperience, poorest governance, Miserable indecisiveness, poorest fiscal management, disastrous foreign relations. No personal grudge but solely professional. And with professional failure, their politics is more of a fascist propaganda. Pack of lies, fraud and what not!!!
