Pakistan Ambassador-designate to Japan, Farukh Amil has urged businessmen to attract Japanese entrepreneurs to invest in Pakistan and improve perception about Pakistan abroad. He was responding to various suggestions made by members of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) during a meeting.
He assured that he will motivate the Japanese investors to visit Pakistan and explore the untapped potential of joint ventures in coal, alternate energy, engineering and agricultural value-added sectors. He said that the purpose of his visit is to get feedback of business community and their suggestions to improve further Japan trade and investment relations with Pakistan.
President KCCI, Mian Abrar Ahmed said that Pakistan was never allowed economic independence and liberty by the developed countries which they allowed to Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and Vietnam in the region. He emphasised that Pakistan should do trade with the regional countries and with trading blocks for the swift revival of the economy. He said that Pakistan was one of the fastest growing economies of the world, however, its pace was slowed due to energy crisis.
He said that Pakistan lacks energy security plan and he urged the government to devise a strategy on war-footing to produce 40 percent electricity from nuclear, remaining 40 percent from coal and the rest from other energy resources He maintaining that regional trade was the key to sustain peace and prosperity, asserted upon the multilateral trade between Arab-African region's Muslim countries. He further pointed out that Pakistan, due to its geo-strategic location, could act as trade corridor between Middle East, African, Central Asian Republics and Saarc countries.
