KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 106,535 tonnes of cargo comprising 61,973 tonnes of import cargo and 44,562 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.
The total import cargo of 61,973 comprised of 25,554 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 6,489 tonnes of Bulk Cargo & 29,930 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.
The total export cargo of 44,562 tonnes comprised of 32,107 tonnes of containerized Cargo, 80 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 5,070 tonnes of Barite Lumps, 6,986 tonnes of Cement & 319 tonnes of Rice. Nearly, 4935 containers comprising of 1713 containers import and 3222 containers export were handled on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 428 of 20’s and 595 of 40’s loaded while 11 of 20’s and 42 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 716 of 20’s and 365 of 40’s loaded containers while 10 of 20’s and 892 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.
Approximately, 03 ships namely, Olympia, Msc Aria III and Damsgaard have berthed at Karachi Port.
Around 02 ships namely, Great Spring and OOCL Le Havre have sailed at Karachi Port.
PORT QASIM
A total of 09 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them two ships, ‘Sunflyte and X-Press Bardsey’ left the Port on Thursday morning, while three more ships, ’Cussler, MSC Fairfield and Oslo Eagle’ are expected to sail on today .
Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 110,444tones, comprising 66,732 tones imports Cargo and 43,712 tones export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 3,627 Containers (1,351 TEUs Imports and 2,276 TEUs export) was handled at the port.
There are 07 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, a Container carrier OOCL Le Havre & another Container Carrier ‘APL Southampton’ are expected to take berths at QICT on Thursday, 30thMarch, while another containers ship RDO Concord is due to arrive at Port Qasim on 31st March-2023.
