The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) health technicians', served under Expanded Polio Immunisation (EPI) programme, held a protest demonstration against the transferring of their services from contract to fix-pay, demanding for immediate regularisation their services as per directives of Federal EPI cell, Islamabad. The protesters warned that if their demands were not fulfilled, they would compel to boycott polio campaign in all agencies and FRs in Fata.
President of Junior EPI technician Fata led the protesters, Saeed Riaz and General Secretary Sher Mohammad along with scores of technicians staffs serving in different tribal agencies under EPI programme, gathered outside Peshawar Press Club to protest against the unjustified step of Fata health services here on Wednesday. They were holding placards and banners inscribed slogans in favour of their demands. They chanted slogans against the unjustified step by secretary health Fata and in support of their demands.
Talking to reporters, Saeed Riaz said the step was totally unjust with staff members as they are doing their duties since last eight year under a contractual policy 2002. He informed that the federal government had regularised services of staffs recruited under the same contract policy hailing from Punjab, Sindh, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on March 7, 2010.
However, he said that authority has yet to be regularised their services, but it was transferred their services from contract to fix-pay. He said that the decision would affect more than 174 technicians serving for the last eight years, who continued services despite the present difficult situation in Fata.
