Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday directed National Accountability Bureau, Bank of Punjab (BoP) and the owners of Haris Steel Mills to ensure recovery of accounts receivable from the Mills in a multi-billion Bank of Punjab (BoP) scam.
Presiding over a three-member bench, the Chief Justice issued directives to the NAB, Bank of Punjab and the owners of Haris Steel Mills to strategize to evolve a strategy aimed at recovering outstanding amount and depositing it in the national exchequer. The Chief Justice granted one month to all parties to the case to resolve the matter amicably.
During the course of hearing, the NAB apprised the bench that an amount of Rs 4 billion was yet to be received from Haris Steel Mills. The bench directed all the parties of the case to resolve the loan recovery issue in one month and adjourned the hearing of case till October 28.
