Raheel Qamar Ahmad, CEO, Standard Chartered Modaraba has been elected as Chairman and Mohammed Khalid Ali, CEO, Security Leasing Corporation of Pakistan as Vice Chairman of NBFI & Modaraba Association of Pakistan for the period 2012-13. This was announced by Farrukh S Ansari, Election Commissioner, in the 2nd Annual General Meeting of the Association held on September 25, 2012 at the Conference Hall of the Association.

Modaraba, Qazi Obaidullah, Company Secretary, First Equity Modaraba, Shabbir Ahmed Jamsa, Company Secretary, First Imrooz Modaraba, Rizwanul Haque, SEVP, First Dawood Investment Bank Limited and Shuja Malik, Director, First UDL Modaraba elected member executive committee.
Earlier Basheer A Chowdry, Outgoing Chairman highlighted the events and activities undertaken by the NBFI & Modaraba Association of Pakistan, in the last year, which included efforts made in line with the SECP Shariah compliance initiatives for Modarabas, and the deliberations of the NBFI Sector Reform Committee.
He congratulated and welcomed the newly elected committee led by Raheel Q. Ahmad and said that he and his team has tried to resolve the sector issues to a great extent but challenges still prevail particularly in the field of Taxation, Federal Excise Duty, Shariah Compliance and related issues.
The newly elected Chairman Raheel Q Ahmad thanked the outgoing chairman and appreciated the work done by the outgoing committee. He stressed the need to work together as an association to overcome the challenges and indicated his wish to take the Association even further as a vibrant and active entity especially in its relationship with the regulator. He presented shields to the outgoing committee in appreciation of services rendered during their tenure.-PR
