Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 109,779 tonnes of cargo comprising 76,180 tonnes of import cargo and 33,599 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 Hrs ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 76,180 comprised of 31,476 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 75 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 6,979 tonnes of Dap & 37,650 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 33,599 tonnes comprised of 18,799 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 169 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 10,031 tonnes of Clinkers & 4,600 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

Nearly, 4850 containers comprising of 3113 containers import and 1737 containers export were handled on Thursday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 432 of 20’s and 901 of 40’s loaded while 101 of 20’s and 389 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 281 of 20’s and 640 of 40’s loaded containers while 30 of 20’s and 73 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Around 06 ships namely, Borkum, Sc Hongkong, Oriole, Cypress, Gfs Prime, Cap Andreas and Darya Rapti have berthed at Karachi Port.

Approximately, 02 ships namely, Borkum and X-Press Anglesey have sailed at Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

A total of 06 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them four ships, Cussler, MSC United-VIII, Ocean Hope and Bulk Paraguay left the Port on Thursday morning & another ship, Afra Rossi is expected to sail on 25th May, 2023.

A cargo volume of 67,577tones, comprising 25,117 tones imports Cargo and 42,460 tones export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 1,926 Containers (422 TEUs Imports and 1,504 TEUs export) was handled at the port during last 24 hours.

There are 07 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them three ships, Express Rome, Spirit of Sea-Trek and Sea Adore & another ship, Olita carrying Containers, Coal, Gas oil and Canola Seeds are expected to take berths at QICT, PIBT, FOTCO and FAP respectively on Thursday, 25th May, & another Containers ship, RDO Fortune is due to arrive at Port Qasim on 26th May 2023.
