ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s wife Bushra submitted a written response to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pertaining to the Al-Qadir Trust case and said she had no information about a settlement between the United Kingdom (UK)’s National Crime Agency (NCA) and property tycoon Malik Riaz family.

She also requested the anti-graft body to change the date of her appearance before the NAB Combined Investigation Team (CIT) for recording her statement in Al-Qadir Trust case as the NAB had summoned her and her husband to appear before it along with relevant documents on Wednesday (June 7).

The reply submitted by Bushra Bibi states, “On the same date and time, you also summoned my husband in the same case. However, my husband has sent you a request for the date of joining the investigation to be shifted to June 8 as on the said date he is scheduled to appear in different cases before the Islamabad High Court, and the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).”

In her reply, she states, “I observe Purdah (veil) and would like to be accompanied by my husband when I travel to Islamabad. Therefore, my date of appearance before the NABbe shifted to Thursday (today).”

“I have no personal knowledge of, nor was I privy to any matter relating to the proceedings between the UK’s NCA and Malik Riaz family, or the terms of settlement between NCA and Malik Riaz family pursuant to the said proceedings, or the repatriation of funds from the UK to Pakistan, or the proceedings of the Federal Cabinet and the decision taken by it on December 3,” it says.

The reply further says that so far as the land measuring 458 kanals, Rs285 million, building, and other donations made by Bahria Town (Private) Limited (BTL) to Al-Qadir Trust are concerned, the terms of the donations so made are explicitly incorporated in the Acknowledgement of Donation “Agreement” dated March 3, 2021, copy of which has already been provided to the CIT by the chief financial officer (CFO) of the Al-Qadir University Project Trust. All the donations made by BTL (including land, building, funds etc) are for the exclusive use and benefit of Al-Qadir University Project Trust and not for the use or benefit in any manner of any individual, including the Trustees.

It says that as regards the documents that you have requisitioned from me through this call-up notice, the custodian of these documents is the CFO of Al-Qadir University Project Trust. She said there was “no such land, cash, gift or any valuable thing given to me or, as far as my information goes, to any other trustee, by Malik Riaz Hussain or any of his family member/BTL.
