ISLAMABAD: Pang Chunxue chargé d’affaires, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar at Finance Division, said a press release issued on Monday.

Dar greeted the chargé d’affaires for joining back after a break and extended good wishes to her.

The Finance Minister appreciated the deep-rooted historical bilateral relations between Pakistan and China and much-admired the Chinese support to Pakistan on multiple fronts. He also highlighted the need to deepen bilateral relations further in economic, trade, and financial sectors.

China assures Pakistan of continued support

The Finance Minister further updated the chargé d’affaires about the progress on talks with the IMF on the completion of the 9th review. He further apprised her about the positive response of the various sectors of the economy on the Budget 2023-24, presented by the incumbent government despite difficult economic circumstances.

Pang Chunxue reciprocated the sentiments and acknowledged the friendly relations between the two countries. She also assured of continuous support from the Chinese Government to the people of Pakistan.

This is not true. Ishaq is making a last ditch attempt to ask for "financial guarantees" which both Iron Brother China and Ummah Saudi have unequivocally said NO to.

Pakistan have to create financial policy to improve economy by increasing export and reducing luxury import. Further to increase GDP. OVERSEAS Pakistan shall be awarded by monitory incentives to remit by SBP which will increase our reserves. Subject of incentives not based on Inter Bank Rate. In my humble opinion Overseas Pakistan should be given seperate rate allocated to attract remittance through SBP. THIS ACT WILL IMPROVE OUR RESERVES AND SOLVE OUR PROBLEM OF CURRENT ACCOUNT DEFICIENCY. TKS

It is step in right direction to keep China updated on developments with IMF because in case of further delay by IMF the risk of default can be minimised with support of Chinese.

@Abdul Hafeez , it is not delay from IMF, it is the incompetence of current government and the extreme political instability and economic mess which is the cause. IMF has come to Paks help in the past and would have done so again. But we are truly a sinking ship, nobody in their right mind should put their funds here anymore. Hope when PAK defaults (soon I imagine) king Munir will be happy and his ego will be all time high!

It's a very sad and funny situation, ESTABLISHMENT is completely stuck, they don't want to bring back PDM, they are trying their best to stop and break PTI, and they have to do a lot more to make IPP win, on the top economy is going down the drain in next 3-6 months, it's a tall task, which is not easily achievable in next 3 months. As JKT and IPP failed to launch, Mark my words, ESTABLISHMENT will make things worse economically in next 3 months and install a 3-year technocratic step up.
