ISLAMABAD: There were at least 209 Pakistani “victims” on an overloaded boat that capsized and sank in open seas off Greece, data shared with Reuters by a Pakistani investigative agency on Thursday showed.

The data shared by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said of the 209, 28 were from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, adding that DNA samples from 201 families had been gathered by officials to help Greece identify those missing.

Pakistan to observe day of mourning tomorrow over Greece boat tragedy

It was not immediately clear on what basis the agency had identified them as victims, with the official toll from the accident still at 82 and survivors at 104, of which 12 are Pakistanis. Hundreds are believed to have been on board the vessel.

Wow, seems like 80% on that boat were Pakistanis and 10% from Azad Kashmir. Why are Pakistanis fleeing their blessed land? Is it that horrendous? Now I guess I understand why India enacted their CAA.

@Tulukan Mairandi, Don't worry, Pakistanis are not trying to get into India for a better life. For an actual example, look at how many Indians are flying to Mexico and trying to sneak into the USA from the Mexico-US border...

@Tulukan Mairandi, Javed Akhtar, reluctantly admitted, that poverty is very visible in India, but not so much in Pakistan. Besides, India ranks at 107 in global hunger index, much worse than Pakistan at 98.

Two totally worlds in our beloved motherland- In one world- People are drowning in a big boat while going abroad in search of green pastures, and in other world people pay quarter a million dollars just to see remains of Titanic ship in deep ocean just for an adventure.

Whom should we condemn those going to Greece through dunky illegally ? or greece coast guards who didn't take appropriate steps to rescue those drowning ? Both are responsible for the tragedy. Personally I am also against immigrants especially those who wants to go abroad illegally because instead of making any progress for their own country they just want to go to other country looking for easy and lavish lifestyle. There is no problem if they go legally but even then they should remember "Dur Kay Dhol Suhanay" par jab pass jao to kano may bajnay lagtay hein. All those countries who are cracking on immigrants deserve some respect and they are doing it to protect their own interests and their own local people. For decade I have been saying to send those afghan refugees back to Afghanistan where they belong but elite class say than how we will sell our choran in the name of afghanistan ?
