Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday said that government will leave no stone unturned for the arrest of the senior journalist Abdul Haq Baloch's killers and would constitute a judicial commission to probe the murder. Talking to journalists at National Press Club he said that the government believes in freedom of press and will make all-out efforts for the arrest of the killers of Abdul Haq Baloch.
He said that he will soon constitute judicial commission which would consist of some members from Journalist community to probe the murder of Abdul Haq. He announced Rs 2.5 million reward for those, who will provide information about the killers of the journalist. Government will compensate the family of Abdul Haq Baloch.
Rehman Malik also ordered immediate withdrawal of case registered against journalists in Balochistan who had staged a sit-in in front of the Governor and Chief Minister House on Monday against the murder of a private TV channel journalist Abdul Haq Baloch in Khuzdar.
Malik also assured that he will soon withdraw the FIR registered by the Aabpara Police Station Islamabad against some journalists. We will pass a bill regarding the protection of journalists, he said.
Earlier, journalists staged a protest against the killing of Abdul Haq Baloch in front of the press club. Journalists strongly condemned the killing of journalist and demanded of the government to arrest the killers of Abdul Haq Baloch and provide protection to journalists across the country. They also threatened that they would prolong their protest if government failed to arrest the killers of Haq.
