LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa has said that the area reserved for fruit, vegetable market and fish markets by Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) has been connected to the main roads.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting held here on Thursday to discuss shifting of the fruit and vegetable market from Badami Bagh, fish market from Mochi Gate and rim market to the RUDA designated area. District Commissioner Rafia Haider, DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi, RUDA CEO Imran Amin, Additional Commissioner Abdul Salam Arif, AC City Wasiq Abbas and other officers participated in the meeting.
The Commissioner further said that important steps need to be taken for the protection of Lahore’s historical heritage and clean Bhati Chowk. He averred that the transfer of fish market and rim market would go ahead as per the plan and businesses would not suffer. “By shifting these markets to the RUDA-designated area, the traffic congestion on Circular Road and Badami Bagh would reduce,” he added.
On this occasion, RUDA CEO Imran Amin briefed the meeting about the area designated for the markets, saying they have allocated a large piece of land for the fruit and vegetable market and all work on the matter has been completed.
