The Karachi Port handled 116,279 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,588 tonnes of import cargo and 32,691 tonnes of export cargo including 2,172 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 83,588 tonnes comprised 6,991 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,021 tonnes of bulk cargo: 16,000 tonnes of coal; 2,021 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 58,576 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,691 tonnes comprised 24,685 tonnes of containerised cargo; 760 tonnes of general cargo; 5,406 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,564 tonnes of cement; 3,557 tonnes of corn; 285 tonnes of sugar and 1,840 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,172 containers comprising 436 containers import and 1,736 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 234 of 20's and 101 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 480 of 20's and 467 of 40's loaded containers while 88 of 20's and 117 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. Three ships namely Hyundai Bangkok, Hanjin Durban and MT Quetta with two container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz MT Lahore, Stolt Surf and Elbe with two oil tankers and one container ship respectively are currently at the berths. An oil tanker namely MT Lahore is expected to sail on Thursday. Seven vessels viz Jolly, OEL Trust, APL Guangzhou, Esraa, Gabrielle Scan, TB 30 and UBC Chile with three containers ships, two project cargo ships, one copra carrier and one cement carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday, while seven more vessels viz YM North, Rio De La Plata, Irenes Dream, Pardis, Wan Hai-605, JBU Sapphire and FPMC P Venus with five containers ships, one ethanol ship and one naphtha carrier respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 85,277 tonnes comprising 60,749 tonnes of import cargo and 24,528 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,844 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 60,749 tonnes includes 16,185 tonnes of furnace oil; 8,193 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,175 tonnes of chemicals and 35,196 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo includes 24,528 tonnes of containerised cargo. A container ship namely CV Maersk Kolkata sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while three more ships namely CV Nedlloyd Drake, CV Al-Abdali and MV Siva Mumbai with containers and chemicals are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of six vessels viz CV Nedlloyd Drake, CV Al-Abdali, CV Maersk Kolkata, MV Yasa Team, MV Siva Mumbai and MT Ambelos are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, chemical and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely CMC CGM Puccini, Framura, Al-Soor-II, Anna Dorothea and Harsanadi with containers, furnace oil, diesel oil, urea and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. Two ships namely CV CMC CGM Puccini and MV Harsanadi with containers and chemicals respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
