Business community playing its due role despite challenges: KATI chief
KARACHI: Despite the challenges posed by difficult circumstances, the business community’s enduring affection for Pakistan remains undiminished.
These sentiments were echoed by Faraz-ur-Rehman, President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), during the grand opening ceremony of KATI/GFS Park, a symbol of unity and progress.
The event was held on the auspicious occasion of Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day.
A tribute to the sacrifices made during the Tehreek Pakistan movement, the Independence Day stands as a testament to the unyielding spirit of the nation.
Faraz-ur-Rehman emphasized the importance of commemorating the struggles of Pakistan’s founders and fostering the well-being and prosperity of the nation.
Prominent figures such as Zubair Chhaya, Deputy Patron-in-Chief of KATI, and Irfan Wahid, CEO of GFS Builders, graced the event.
“The significance of Pakistan’s hard-won independence cannot be understated,” said Faraz-ur-Rehman. He recognized the tradition of celebrating August 14 within the KATI community, pioneered by visionary individuals like Sheikh Umar Rehan and Salim-uz-Zaman.
The resounding turnout for the ceremony, he pointed out, underscores the deep-rooted love that the business community holds for their homeland.
Amidst the current challenging economic landscape, Faraz-ur-Rehman stressed that the business community’s commitment to Pakistan’s development remains steadfast.
He underscored the crucial role that entrepreneurs and industrialists play in the country’s growth. “Our forefathers achieved the dream of a nation through immense sacrifices,” he said, attributing KATI’s foundation to his father, Haji Fazl-ur-Rehman, and its elevation to new heights under the leadership of SM Munir.
The event was also marked by the inauguration of the Fire Brigade Station at GFS/KATI Park Phase One, a collaborative endeavor between GFS Builders & Developers and KATI.
Irfan Wahid, the driving force behind the project, paid tribute to the late Patron-in-Chief SM Munir, who envisioned the park and fire station as symbols of progress. “Independence Day holds a special significance in our journey towards Pakistan’s development,” Wahid remarked, pledging further collaborative initiatives with KATI.
Zubair Chhaya shared the poignant words of ‘Bhaijan SM Munir’, highlighting that Pakistan’s survival is intertwined with the nation’s prosperity. Expressing faith in Pakistan’s resilience, Chhaya acknowledged the country’s challenges while looking forward to its triumphant resurgence.
The GFS community park, a joint effort between KATI and Irfan Wahid, has been a beacon of progress. The first phase, consisting of a park and fire station, was inaugurated during the ceremony. Chhaya lauded Faraz-ur-Rehman’s tireless dedication to KATI’s mission, commending his commitment even after relinquishing his business responsibilities.
The event culminated with a poignant flag hoisting ceremony and a celebratory cake cutting, symbolizing the unity and pride of Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day. The attendees left the event with a renewed sense of purpose and a shared commitment to contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth and prosperity.
