LAHORE: Provincial Minister IC&T Sheikh Alla-u-din has said that 'The Pakistan Auto Show 2018' is a valuable initiative of the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM).

He expressed these views at an exhibition, organised by PAAPAM with the theme of 'Made in Pakistan' at Expo Centre, on Friday.

He said that with skilled economic labour and capacities to deal in low volumes, Pakistan is becoming the future manufacturing hub for auto-parts especially in the case of tractors, as we are producing the cheapest tractor in the world.

The minister said that the auto sector of Pakistan is also among the top three contributors to the government's tax revenues currently, four of the top 10 global automobile assemblers have established production plants in Pakistan including Suzuki, Toyota, Honda and FAW.

In the event, MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Chairman PAPAAM Iftikhar Ahmed, member PAPAAM Syed Nabeel Hashmi, Director Indus Motors Tariq Ahmed Khan, Honda Atlas Group Amir Sherazi, new managing Director Suzuki, Ravi Motors Sheikh Umer, large number of local and international exhibitor were present at there. The minister industries visited various stalls established by local and various multinational companies.

He also inaugurated Skills Development Centre sponsored by PAPAAM and welcomed the traders from Punjab government.

Chairman PAAPAM welcomed the minister industries in the exhibition and said in his welcome address that the 3-day exhibition was expected to attract more than 203 companies, comprising 125 domestic enterprises and 78 international exhibitors, over a covered area of 58,000 square feet.

The international exhibitors include renowned companies from Japan, China, Germany, France, Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan, England, USA, UAE and Sri Lanka.

The event will also feature more than 275 international buyers. He said that the expected number of international visitors is more than 400, including international delegations. He also said that diverse categories of exhibitors will include passenger cars, trucks, buses, tractors, rickshaws, motorcycles, auto-parts manufacturers, service providers, machinery makers, tool makers, antique cars and heavy motorbikes.
