KARACHI: Delving into the economic situation of Pakistan, the UBG core committee contemplated the prevailing challenges. It was unanimously agreed that trade bodies would be called upon to provide input and recommendations aimed at fostering economic growth and addressing issues encountered by their constituents.

The meeting held under the esteemed patronage of its patron-in-chief witnessed a convergence of key stakeholders from across Pakistan. The event provided an insightful platform for deliberation, where prominent members of the UBG convened to discuss and strategise the organization’s path forward.

President UBG Zubair Tufail, Secretary General Zafar Bakhtauri, former president FPCCI Mian Muhammad Adrees, Abdul Rauf Alam, Chairman (Sindh) Khalid Tawab, Secretary General (Sindh) Hanif Gohar, Haji Afzal, Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Riazuddin Sheikh, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Arif Yusuf Jewa, Atif Ikram Sheikh, Shabnam Zafar, Syed Zahar Ali Nasir, Amir Aata Bajwah, Ahmed Chinoy, Noman Idris Butt, Peer Nazim, Ali Husam Asghar and other leaders participated.

The meeting further marked a pivotal moment with the acceptance of the resignation of Chairman UBG, Shahzad Ali Malik, due to health reasons. The committee wholeheartedly acknowledged his dedicated service during his tenure. Resolving to uphold continuity, the UBG reaffirmed its commitment to its current operational structure.

With the upcoming FPCCI elections on the horizon, the committee underscored the imperative for collective action to ensure a fair and lawful electoral process, free from unwarranted influence.

President UBG Zubair Tafail while addressing the meeting said the UBG is ahead in bringing forward young business leaders.

Because the youth are the future and the capital of our country and now we are giving them the responsibility to serve the business community. In the meeting, tributes were paid to late UBG leader S M Munir.

As UBG emerges as a cohesive force committed to driving positive change, this gathering fortified the organization’s determination to steer through challenges while fostering economic progress. The synergy exhibited during this meeting underscores UBG’s resilience and dedication to propelling Pakistan's economic landscape to new heights.

The committee also extended a warm welcome to the government’s decision in appointing Dr Gohar Ejaz as the caretaker Commerce minister. With his profound understanding of the prevailing economic challenges, his appointment is poised to fortify the collaboration between the government and trade bodies in addressing the nation’s economic imperatives.
