China-South Asia economic cooperation enters a new era: SAARC CCI President
LAHORE: China-South Asia Economic Cooperation enters a new era of industrial collaboration. This was stated by Md. Jashim Uddin, President SAARC CCI during the opening ceremony of 16th China-South Asia Business Forum, emerged as the only forum for the exchange of ideas, trade, and cooperation between South Asia and China. It stands as a beacon of unity, inclusiveness, and friendship in the eyes of South Asian nations.
The 16th China-South Asia Business Forum, a cornerstone event fostering economic ties, recently convened in Kunming, China. Remarkably, the China-South Asia Business Forum has swiftly emerged as the primary platform for Chinese investment in the dynamic region of South Asia.
Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, led a business delegation from Pakistan comprising Shahzaib Akram, Executive Committee Member SCCI (Pakistan Chapter) and CEO of Pharma Health Pakistan Pvt Ltd, Hina Mansab Khan, Chairperson SCWEC and Safdar Zaman Shah, Executive Committee Member SCCI (Pakistan Chapter).
Iqbal said that as the global and regional landscape is witnessing unprecedented, profound adjustments, it demands that China and South Asia should work closely. He emphasized that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a success story of South-South Cooperation. “Through unity and harmony, we can harness the strength of our longstanding friendship and geographical proximity, leveraging our economic synergies and diversifying our cooperative realms beyond traditional commerce,” he added.
South Asian business leaders called upon Chinese enterprises to invest through joint ventures, partnerships, and complementary ventures to address the significant trade imbalances between the two regions.
