Bad governance perpetrated by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi during his government, cannot be transformed into anything positive by his misleading statements. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and his cronies set new records of loot, plunder, corruption and nepotism under the direct supervision of worst dictator who used to call his uniform as his skin. The corruption and loot and plunder committed during the rule of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi can be seen in the graveyards of NICL, Para Likah Punjab and pauper Punjab Bank.
These views were expressed by Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Provincial Minister Rana Sanaullah, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Advisors to CM Khawaja Salman Rafique and Zaeem Qadri in a joint statement, here on Friday. They said that Chaudhries gave nothing to the Punjab province during their five years rule. They said that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi's government utilized only Rs 52 billion during five years to remove the backwardness of south Punjab, while the Shahbaz Sharif government during four and a half years, has spent a huge amount of Rs 292 billion in this regard. They said, in view of these facts, claimed by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi that he made Punjab prosperous is nothing but a glaring example of stubbornness.
PML-N leaders said that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi government threw the people of province into the pit of ignorance and illiteracy through its so called Para Likha Punjab scheme. They said that cronies and dacoits of Chaudhries made this scheme as source of their personal benefits, while, on the other hand, the present government has brought about revolutionary changes in education sector of Punjab due to which the younger generation is moving towards bright and better future.
They said Punjab Chief Minister has taken unprecedented steps which are unparalleled in the history of Pakistan, which include endowment fund worth Rs 10 billion, distribution of laptops, establishment of schools, setting up of computer labs, distributing prizes worth billions of rupees among position holder girl and boy students without any discrimination and arranging students tours to the foreign educational institutions. They said the Chief Minister completed mega projects in education sector in every nook and corner of Punjab which include Information Technology University in Lahore, Punjab University Jhelum Campus, five new women universities, setting up of 66 new degree colleges, besides up gradation of 13 inter colleges to degree level, training of more than one lakh teachers, recruitment of 42 thousand teachers and establishment of IT labs in the educational institutions throughout Punjab.
PML-N leaders said similarly, new medical colleges were established in five cities of the province, an Institute of Cardiology and Urology in Rawalpindi, 410-bed hospital in Bahawalpur, new THQ hospitals and rural health centers, whereas necessary facilities were also provided in government hospitals throughout the province. Likewise, mobile health unit service was initiated to provide health facilities to the people of south Punjab at their doorstep.
They said that during the last four and a half years, the present Punjab government has widened 1800km long roads while 700km long new roads were constructed. They said that during this period, Chandni Chowk Rawalpinid flyover, Muslim Town flyover, Kalma Chowk Flyover, Thokhar Niaz Baig flyover, Shalimar flyover, Lahore-Kasur Road, Chak Nizam bridge at River Jhelum, bridge between Rohjan and Bangla Achha at River Sindh, bridge connecting N5 to Bahawalpur city, Kohala Bridge and Lahore Ring Road (Northern Loop) were constructed and completed.
PML-N leaders said that the government of Shahbaz Sharif initiated many projects to meet energy crisis. They said Marala Hydel power station construction, costing Rs 4 billion, has been initiated under Energy Development Programme, while four grid stations, generating 86 mega watts electricity are also being constructed with the assistance of Asian Development Bank.
They further said that coal power plants generating 50 mega watts electricity are also being installed at Sundar Industrial Estate. Similarly, present Punjab government has also completed remodelling and rehabilitation project of Taunsa barrage while initiating remodelling and rehabilitation projects of Jinnah and Khanki barrages.
PML-N leaders said that under the dynamic leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, self-employment and youth women development schemes have been initiated, at a cost of Rs 37 billion, while Aashiayana Housing Scheme has been initiated to provide residential facilities to the homeless persons, along with waiving off loans of poor widows.
They said that free of cost medicines are being provided to the patients in hospitals, while a new public transport system has been introduced to provide modern and comfortable travelling facilities to the citizens of big cities. Similarly, in addition to increasing the salaries of police and lower judiciary, better performance allowance is being given to the low ranking officials of police, they concluded.
