Despite the passage of more than five months after the recommendation of a special committee, the Board of Revenue (BoR) has not allotted the 4, 26,597 acres land of Gorakh hills station to Gorakh Hills Development Authority (GHDA); it emerged on Friday. In March 2012, a special committee constituted by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah had recommended BoR to allot the 4,26,597 acres land of Gorakh Hills station to GHDA.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had constituted this committee during the meeting of Board of Directors (BoD) of GHDA on March 14, 2012, with the mandate to resolve the issues of Gorakh Hills. The committee was asked to review the issues of Gorakh Hills and submit its report to the Chief Minister within seven days, sources added.Sources told Business Recorder that the committee had issued this kind of recommendation during a meeting held here at Committee room-1 of Sindh Assembly, which was chaired by Minister for Tourism Mohammad Ali Malkani.
In this connection, DG GHDA told Business Recorder that though development work had been underway for the last many years but the land of Gorakh Hills station had not yet been allotted to the concerned department despite several efforts. He said that the district administration of Dadu had also endorsed the version of GHDA about the allotment of the land while Chief Secretary Sindh had also asked BoR to allot the land to GHDA but the matter still hung in the balance.
He said that later, that the Chief Minister had constituted a committee which had also recommended the allotment of the land but the BoR was not following any recommendation of the higher authorities."This matter would be again raised before the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and would be resolved amicably" he vowed.
