WASHINGTON: Israel and Saudi Arabia are moving towards the outline of a historic US-brokered deal to normalize relations after decades of hostility, the White House said on Friday.

President Joe Biden is hoping to transform the Middle East — and score an election-year diplomatic victory — by securing recognition of the Jewish state by Saudi Arabia, the guardian of Islam’s two holiest sites.

“All sides have hammered out, I think, a basic framework for what, you know, what we might be able to drive at,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters.

“But, as in any complex arrangement, as this will inevitably be, everybody is going to have to do something. And everybody is going to have to compromise on some things.”

The United States has urged its Middle East allies Israel and Saudi Arabia to normalize diplomatic relations, following on from similar deals involving the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Morocco.

Saudi Arabia’s crown prince and de facto ruler, Mohammed bin Salman, recently said that the two sides were getting closer, as did Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Saudi Arabia has been seeking security guarantees, including reportedly a treaty, with the United States in return for normalizing with Israel. But the Palestinians have warned that they must be taken into account in any deal, saying there can be no peace in the Middle East without a two-state solution.

Any solution for Palestine that does not go to pre-1967 borders will not be acceptable to Pakistan. However, our politicians and military have not raised even a single voice against KSA. We are not urging KSA, nor threatening diplomatic repercussions if KSA recognizes Israel. Are we cowards? We did nothing when UAE invested in Kashmir. We keep making silly statements here and there like throwing peanuts at an elephant and hoping that it would matter. When will we really show some teeth as opposed just words? We have become just a bunch of emotional people with no capacity to think and act.

Israel may make some make believe concessions to the Palestinians, if at all, but nothing tangible. And the Palestinians will be assured that everyone will work diligently towards a two state solution. And that they will work towards making sure that the option towards a Palestinian state remains open.

Palestinians have been assured again and again that everyone will work towards a two state solution. It will not be any different this time around. They will get more promises and assurances like before, repackaged to make it look more genuine each time.

Muslims all over the world will always support the Palestinians until they get their lands and rights back.

The deal of the century is already dead, because it was an edifice of peace built on Palestinian sufferings. Here comes another deal.

The Zionists thought that the deal of the century ended the support for the Palestinians in the Arab and Muslim world. During the Soccer World Cup in Qatar, they found out that it was not the case. Now they are again thinking, a deal with the Saudis will do the trick. They will be wrong again. Nobody in the Muslim world feels obligated to go along the decisions made by KSA or for that matter any other Muslim government. Muslims all over the world will continue to support the Palestinians until they get their lands and rights back.

@TidBit, KSA or for that matter any other government does not represent the Muslims around the world. They do not make decisions for anyone. Just like the decisions made by UAE did not stop the support for the Palestinians, as was visible during the Soccer World Cup in Qatar, any decisions made by KSA wont make any difference at all, although the Zionists and their supporters would like to say so.

The Shah of Iran also established relations with Israel. It did not have the support of the people. It lasted , only until he lasted.

Israel is just a western stooge. Riding on someone else’s shoulders.

Israel is just riding on the shoulders of the West. One thing human history shows is that power and dominance is not permanent.

Israel keeps telling the Palestinians that Israel is here to stay and will not disappear. What they don’t want to hear is that the Palestinians and their supporters are also not going to disappear nor is their support for the Palestinians going to diminish.

@Az_Iz, "Palestinians and their supporters are also not going to disappear " I agree, but they are getting reduced day by day. and contrary to your claim, support has diminished. UAE and Turkey have diplomatic relations. In the end, the only supporter might be Pakistan. The question is what is Pakistan going to do? Do we have the courage to stand up to KSA and say wrong is wrong. or are we going to be like cowards only talk and take no action. Isn't it hypocrisy that we support Palestine, bue we dont challage even a single Muslim country that appears to recognize the western stooge Isreal. i thik we we just a bunch of talkers with no teeth.

@Az_Iz, "Nobody in the Muslim world feels obligated to go along the decisions made by KSA or for that matter any other Muslim government." that is not true... several countries are waiting to go along with the decision of KSA once KSA makes the decision. In fact even before KSA is putting is stamp of approval, Oman and other GCC countries have started establishing ties. Where are you getting the news that only KSA will betray Palestine? Our Muslim brother Erdogan himself is going along with Isreal. Have you heard him say anything recently against the KSA deal?
