International Labour Organisation (ILO) is organising an award distribution ceremony to highlight the work done by photographers to raise awareness about child labour issues. The ceremony will be held on October 9 at ILO auditorium in Islamabad, says a press release issued here Sunday.
The Ambassador of the European Union's delegation to Pakistan, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, will be the chief guest. Other participants will include the ILO's Country Director, General Secretary of Pakistan Workers' Federation and the federal Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
Moreover, heads of various UN organisations working in Pakistan, foreign diplomats, representatives of employers' and workers' organisation, representatives of the civil society, media personnel and university students would also attend the ceremony.
According to ILO's Program Officer Zaheer Arif, the international labour watchdog was implementing 'Combating Abusive Child Labour-II Project' in collaboration with the European Union to support national efforts for elimination of hazardous forms of child labour.
The project was announced in March this year, a national Photo competition on the fight against child labour, encouraging professional photographers, students and general public to enter their photographs related to child labour issues in the competition, he said.
