KARACHI: The Sindh Integrated Emergency & Health Services (SIEHS) received 16,476 critical emergency calls that required immediate medical intervention and support. The SIEHS also provided immediate, life-threatening emergency medical care to 5,747 patients in September 2023.

It is worth adding here that a total of 598,186 calls were received and responded by SIEHS Central Command and Control in September. Among them, 179,069 people facilitated and faced non-emergency medical assistance.

Also, 10,642 people faced severe medical emergencies that were supported with swift and efficient medical aid, while SIEHS handled 880 RTAs (Road Traffic Accidents) and saved hundreds of lives by providing first aid to the wounded and ensuring their timely and safe transfers to the hospitals.

Moreover, the SIEHS managed 46 fire incidents and 36 crime cases (gunshot/stab/suicide), through its team of trained paramedics, while the SIEHS successfully catered to 1,960 medical emergencies that were critical and needed immediate attention to save their lives.

During the said month, the SIEHS provided ventilator assistance to critical 1,676 cases that required ventilator support, before being handed securely to the hospital.

77 patients of hypoglycemia used SIEHS ambulatory service to save their lives and 649 cardiac patients were provided safe hospital shifting, with proper medical assistance in their ambulances.

Besides, the SIEHS in September transferred 4,088 patients from home to hospital and there were 4,018 inter-hospital transfers.

4,461 people were transferred from roads to medical facilities for medical emergencies. SIEHS’ ambulances assisted 3,425 patients with oxygen support and 182 total CPR administrations, including on-call and in-the ambulance, while being shifted to the hospital. Therefore, the SIEHS team played a significant role in providing the required pre-hospitalisation, to save the precious lives of people.

It is pertinent to mention here that SIEHS provides pre-hospital emergency services across Sindh. It ensures swift, efficient, and state-of-the-art ambulance services, along with highly trained staff that assists people round the clock for any medical and life-threatening emergencies free of cost, under the support and guidance of the Sindh Health department.
