ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), on Tuesday, extended the judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president Pervaiz Elahi in a terrorism case registered against him with respect to vandalism and violence at the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) till November 21.

Elahi was produced before ATC duty judge Shahrukh Arjumand amid tight security arrangements.

Elahi’s counsel Sardar Abdur Razaq and other lawyers appear before the court.

At the start of the hearing, the judge said that just like there are caretakers in politics, there are also caretakers in the judiciary. I am also a caretaker judge, the judge said. The judge asked Elahi’s lawyer if a date had to be given today. To which, advocate Razak replied by saying, yes.

The court then extended Elahi’s judicial remand till November 21.

Talking to reporters outside the courtroom, he said that the “Nelson Mandela” that has arrived should ask his brother about inflation in the country which has compelled people to commit suicide. Gas and electricity prices were also hiked, he said.
